Racing Season kick off info for new racers

1- Every person that is racing will need an annual membership card for the series they plan to

compete in. Its always cheaper to purchase the annual membership if one attends more than

two races in that series. They can be purchased online; at the same time, you reserve the

number you plan to put on your race bike.

When updating your information on Moto Tally and reserving your race number, be sure to

update your sponsors and the club you are participating with. So, for this group, if you are

moving to the Jackrabbits from a different club, you will need to update this in Moto Tally. Its

simple and free to update your info!

2- In addition to the Series Membership race participants will need a current AMA membership.

This can also be purchased online. The Southern Nevada Jackrabbits is an AMA Club. When

competing in a series, the AMA #1 plate is most prestigious championship in all race sectors!

This group lobbies Washington to help keep our public lands accessible for racing!

3- Every race bike will need their approved number on the front of the bike and on each side of the

bike. This number will need to have the proper corresponding background color and letter after

the number. The purpose of this is to ensure the riders start in their respective classes and

allows the race referees to manually account for every rider on the course.

4- Waiver signed…Every participant must sign a waiver each race season before the first race. If the

participant is a minor the waiver must be signed by both parents or signed and notarized by one

parent. There is never a notary at the races. So, this waiver needs to be thought thru before race

day!

5- Club Participation. The clubs are the life blood of Off-Road Racing!! If a racer intends to compete

for a championship, they must be on a club’s roster before the first race of the season. IT IS NOT

POSSIBLE TO WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP WITHOUT PARTICIPATING IN A CLUB!!! Club Participants

receive extra points for working one race and not racing that race. Hosting these races is done

with all volunteers and as a nonprofit event. The future of off-road racing relies on active club

members participating. Working with a club can be more memorable than actually racing the

race!

6- Every bike needs to have a USFS spark arrestor. Most bikes do not come from the factory with a

spark arrested silencer. The most popular spark arrestor for two strokes is the FMF Turbine Core

2 Silencer. FMF also makes a spark arrestor for four strokes. If it is USFS approved, it will work.

There will be a bike tech inspection before each race. They check for a spark arrestor. They will

also be checking to make sure your bike size matches the class you are racing, and background

colors and numbers match the rider’s class. If something is missed before the race, it could still

result in a DNF after the race if the race officials catch a mistake!

WHY JOIN A MOTORCYCLE CLUB?

So you are thinking of joining the Jackrabbits?! Take a moment to consider the following. There are immense benefits from joining the club, but joining may not be for everyone.

Despite what some may argue, no segment of the moto world is, at its core, an individual sport. You want to race...who is pitting for you? Looking for advice on proper bike set-up and technique? You will be relying on the insight and wisdom of the knowledge conveyed by your peers one way or the other. You get stranded in the desert, or worse, injured…who has your back and will get you home?

It is true, growing into a great rider requires you to learn, ride and interact with your fellow moto friends. Given that, one of the core values our club embodies is the principle of giving back to the sport at least as much as you ask for in return. That can be something as simple as being willing to aid a fellow rider in need. Being willing to help someone change a tire on the trail. Most generally, wanting to pass on what you know to the next generation to better the sport; the sport that brings you so much joy. It is by this mindset and this mindset alone that has allowed each new generation of dirt bikers and desert racers to succeed and to become better each year. Along that path, you will develop friends, a positive social circle, you will become a better rider and above all, you will have an immense amount of fun participating. If you are seeking the highest level of personal fulfillment and talent in your sport, but have less enthusiasm for fostering those qualities in your peers, then our club might not be the right fit for you.

We are here to make the most of life and to inspire the younger generation to take the sport to the next level. Along these lines, another core tenet of our moto philosophy is seeking out riders who wish to actively engage with the younger generation and working as a team to create a positive, fun and yet competitive riding atmosphere for them. We are 5am serious, live and breathe dirt bikes. But we are just as serious about integrating family, building lasting relationships, and having bucket loads of fun. No B.S. We ride our bikes, develop camaraderie in the desert, we ride some more, and then share these positive experiences with each other.

Now, you might be asking, “How involved with the club do I have to be?” The Jackrabbits understand that life can be as much fun as it can be complicated, messy, and busy. We are here when you can and have the time, and we are here when you cannot. If you can help mark and/or sweep a course, awesome! If your time does not permit and your family priorities take over, we have your back. If these core tenets don’t suit your personality, our club is probably not the best fit for you. However, if this is the type of environment you want to be a part of, please reach out to Kyle @ kylepulsipher@gmail.com
